Years after initial fanfare, Ranger Scientific ammo factory plan gets boost | Business

The saga surrounding a proposed manufacturing facility in West Virginia continues after all.

It was announced Thursday that Ranger Scientific — the high-grade ammunition company that has been trying to build a factory in the Kanawha Valley since 2016 — will receive a $7.5 million federal loan. The money is a Business and Industry guaranteed loan through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

It will go toward purchasing land, renovations and equipment while also providing working capital. Phase 1 of the two-phase project — which company and government officials say will create 400 jobs — will cost $22 million and is slated to be finished in April 2021.

“This is a totally new opportunity for diversification,” said Kent Carper, president of the Kanawha County Commission. “This is the most significant new opportunity for the upper Kanawha Valley in a quarter of a century.”

Thursday’s announcement marks another chapter in a story

Amid U.S. Golf Boom, Struggling Hawaii Courses Look To Pre-Travel Testing For Needed Boost

Anyone who’s played Ko’Olau Golf Course on Oahu has surely regaled fellow golfers with stories of playing one of the most difficult and visually stunning courses in the world – soaring mountains, lush green surroundings, and forced carries over deep ravines. The oft-repeated joke is that the course record at Ko’Olau was 63… lost balls, that is. And you’d be hard-pressed to find a layout anywhere that looks like a better setting for a Jurassic Park movie.

Sadly, Ko’Olau has been closed, perhaps permanently.

Like many golf courses in Hawaii, Ko’Olau was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. While Hawaii may be paradise on earth, that hasn’t been the case for the golf industry

COVID-19 May Boost Cloud and Edge Computing

According to a new report by PMMI Business Intelligence, currently 47% of leading CPGs and 46% of SMEs are utilizing cloud computing, and only 20% of leading CPGs and very few SMEs are utilizing edge computing strategies, though the use of both did accelerate due to COVID-19.

Cloud computing enables manufacturers to access production data and controls, remotely and in real time. By continuously uploading data to the cloud, manufacturers can obtain a comprehensive view of their operations, monitoring where products are, controlling what production lines are doing, and analyzing gathered data, without the need to be physically present at the site of production. Edge computing enables many of the same advantages of cloud computing, but without the option of remote access to data.

(Reuters) – Ladbrokes and bwin owner GVC Holdings GVC.L on Thursday raised its outlook for annual core earnings after posting a 12% rise in third-quarter revenue, helped by a surge in online gaming and as sports events such as the English Premier League resumed.

The company, which owns brands such as Coral and Eurobet, said full-year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) is now expected between 770 million and 790 million pounds.

GVC had previously forecast annual EBITDA to be between 720 million pounds and 740 million pounds, and last week warned that new gambling rules in Germany, its second-largest online-gaming market, would reduce 2021 profit by 70 million pounds.

However, the company is steaming ahead as it also announced the acquisition of Bet.pt, an online gambling operator in Portugal.

Spotify Promo Cards is a new way for creators to boost their content

Spotify has introduced a new tool that enables creators to boost their content. Called Promo Cards, the new feature generates customized assets for a creator’s content, including podcasts, albums, and even individual songs. The Promo Cards shouldn’t be mistaken with something like real-life business cards — rather, says Spotify, these new custom assets are designed to be shared on social media platforms.

Spotify points out that promoting one’s content on social media takes up more of the artist’s time, particularly if they’re a small content creator responsible for boosting their own brand. The Promo Cards are intended to make it easier to market one’s own materials even if you don’t possess graphic design skills.

Spotify for Artists enables creators to customize the graphics on their promo cards — in fact, the online tool doesn’t even require users to log in, meaning that listeners could also generate Promo Cards for their
